Ittihad of Alexandria has signed Nigerian forward Derick “Chuka” Ogbu on a two-and-a-half year contract, the club announced on its official website on Saturday.

Ogbu had been playing for Georgian club FC Tskhinvali, in the country's second division.

The 28-year-old has played for a host of clubs since his senior career started in 2010, including Qatar's Umm Salal, Belgium's OH Leuven, Romania's CFR Cluj, China's Liaoning Whowin, Japan's Ventforet Kofu, and Hungary's Debrecen.

Ittihad currently lie in 11th place in the Egyptian Premier League table with 20 points from 18 matches, 18 points behind leaders Zamalek who still have three matches in hand.

The coastal club is also competing in the Egypt Cup and the Arab tournament, the Zayed Club Champions Cup, after reaching the quarter-finals of both competitions.
