Egyptian champions Ahly
will head to the UAE on Thursday to start a training camp amid the current league suspension, football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz revealed on Tuesday.
The Egyptian Premiere League is currently on hold due to the national team's commitments at the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the national Olympic team's participation at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations at home next month.
Abdel-Hafiz also stressed that the technical staff is continuing the attempts to play a friendly match during the UAE camp.
According to Ahly's official website, Swiss coach Rene Weiler is planning to make the best use of the current suspension to prepare the team well for the league resumption.
After three matches, holders Ahly currently lie third at the league table with nine points, just two behind leaders Pyramids FC, who played two matches more.
