In-form Ahly will be looking to make their best Egyptian Premier League start since the 2005/06 season when they meet Haras El-Hodoud on Sunday.

The Red Devils have kicked off the defence of their title, which they had won the past four seasons, with five straight wins, scoring a staggering 17 goals and conceding just one in the process.

Their form under Swiss boss Rene Weiler makes them firm favourites to win the title again and they are expected to maintain their perfect run against El-Hodoud, who lie seventh in the table with 10 points from seven matches.

Ahly have not won their opening six matches since 2005.

Their vivid attacking displays have given their opponents no let-offs and they are further boosted by the return to form of Moroccan striker Walid Azaro, who scored twice in an Egypt Cup game against second-division side Beni Suef and was also on target in the 3-0 win over Wadi Degla in Ahly's previous league game after coming off the bench.

"The most important thing is to continue our winning streak, regardless of who scores," he said following the match against Degla.

"Collective effort is what concerns us and we are now focusing on the next game."

Apart from several long-term absentees including influential midfielders Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Mahmoud, Ahly almost have a fully fit squad to choose from.
