Egypt's Minister of Sports and Youth Ashraf Sobhi said on Thursday that sports activities will likely resume in August.

"Sports teams will start training in July," Sobhi told a television programme.

"All sports halls will be sterilised by the end of June to be ready for hosting the trainings," he added.

The cabinet announced on Thursday that sports clubs and youth centres will be allowed to accept members’ subscriptions from 15 to 30 June, provided they raise the efficiency of the facilities, and perform sterilisation procedures during that period.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) suspended all football activities on 15 March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but has not yet made an official decision regarding the future of the season.
