Ahly will celebrate the Egyptian Premier League title they had won for a fifth straight season when they meet a resurgent Maqassa side on Saturday.
The Red Devils were crowned champions for a 42nd time without kicking a ball on Friday, with Aswan's 1-0 shock win over second-placed Zamalek giving them an unassailable 20-point lead on top with six rounds left.
Ahly will face Maqassa in a festive mood, with their opponents also enjoying a superb run of form under new coach Ihab Galal.
Galal's arrival has turned around the fortunes of Maqassa, who are unbeaten in their last five matches, a run which included four straight wins.
Ex-Zamalek playmaker Mohamed Ibrahim was given a new lease of life at Maqassa, having scored twice and provided five assists in their previous five matches. Local reports said he is close to joining Ahly in the off season.
With Ahly prioritising their African Champions League campaign, given that they haven't won the title since 2013, coach Rene Weiler might be tempted to rest some regulars.
Ahly welcome back winger Hussein El-Shahat after he recovered from an injury that has kept him on the sidelines since March. Central defender Yasser Ibrahim is also back after recovering from the coronavirus.
