Ahly's newly signed defender Badr Benoun has expressed his pleasure of wearing the Red Devils' jersey, confirming that he's achieved his target by playing for the African club of the century.
The Cairo giants announced Wednesday the signing of Raja's Moroccan defender Benoun on a four-year deal.
"I am happy with joining the club of the century and I hope to fight with my teammates to draw a new history for the Red Castle," said Benoun on the club's official website on Thursday.
"It's an honor for me to wear the Ahly jersey and I will bring all that I have to please the team's supporters as well as winning more domestic and continental trophies," he added.
"I preferred Ahly's offer over other negotiations with teams from Africa and some Gulf clubs as it's difficult for any player to refuse wearing the Red Devils' jersey," said Morocco's international star.
"Some of the North African players prefer to play in Europe but for me it was a big target to wear the Ahly jersey," said Benoun.
The towering 27-year-old has been a key member of Raja's squad in the past few years.
In this season, he helped them win the domestic league on the final day of the season and reach the African Champions League semi-final, where they then lost to Ahly's perennial rivals Zamalek 4-1 on aggregate.
"I can play in more than one position on the playground as defence as well as midfield but personally I prefer to play as a defender," he added.
"I am waiting for the fans' support and I promise to meet their expectations, I will fight for the team and I will do my best to achieve more trophies," said Ahly's newly signed defender Badr Benoun.
