Bundesliga side Hamburg have contacted Zamalek officials to organise a friendly this summer.
“Zamalek have received an offer from German club Hamburg asking to play a friendly in Cairo next July or August,” reads a statement on the Cairo-based club's official website.
“The board will meet soon to discuss holding the friendly amid current hard circumstances,” it added.
Egypt's football league was dealt a blow after rising hooliganism reached a peak in early February, when more than 70 Ahly supporters were killed and hundreds injured in the Port Said Stadium disaster. The county's political instability has also affected the footballing world, as Egypt witnesses the first presidential elections since the ousting of former president Hosni Mubarak last year.
