The Zamalek football committee will meet with striker Ahmed Gaafar later this week to discuss extending his contract with the club.

The move comes after coach Hassan Shehata demanded the club extended the player's contract.

The 26-year-old centreforward joined Zamalek from Itisalat in 2009 and has been a regular in the starting lineup.

The Cairo giants will also renew the contracts of midfielders Mohamed Abdel-Shafi and Ibrahim Salah when they return from international duty

Egypt are playing Guinea on 10 June in their second World Cup qualifier.

Zamalek started preparing for the CAF Champions League on Tuesday. They have been drawn with archrivals Ahly, Ghana’s Bechem Chelsea and TP Mazembe of DR Congo. They will start their campaign in Ghana on 7 June.
