Ahly resumed their training Sunday morning under manager Hossam El-Badry in preparation for the CAF Champions League.

Ahly forward Walid Soliman is expected to return to regular training in two days after recuperating from a knee injury.

“Soliman will be examined before rejoining his teammates for regular training,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Star midfielder Mohamed Barakat also trained individually on Sunday morning after complaining of pain in his Achilles tendon.

“Barakat’s injury will be examined Monday, and if the pain persists, he will continue training individually,” said Ahly team doctor Ehab Ali.

The team also bid farewell to veteran defender Wael Gomaa, who left for Portugal in the morning to continue rehabilitation for a calf injury for ten days before he plans to join the team’s training camp in Turkey after the team cancelled its camp in Austria.

The Egyptian Champions are scheduled to play DR Congo’s TP Mazembe on 8 July. They were also drawn with bitter rivals Zamalek and Bechem Chelsea of Ghana.
