Ahmed Magdy has on Wednesday rejoined Zamalek on a three-year contract to become the club's third off-season signing.

The 27-year-old, who can operate as a holding midfielder or central defender, played for Zamalek from 2007 to 2010, helping them win the Egypt Cup in 2008.

He expressed his delight after returning to his former club, who are yearning to end an Egyptian Premier League drought stretching back to 2004.

"I am happy to return to Zamalek, where I spent an enjoyable three-year spell," Magdy told the club's official website.

"I want to help the club recovery from its crisis,'' he added.

Zamalek failed to get beyond the African Champions League group stage this year after collecting only one point from five games.
