Sayed Moawad fails to recover from ankle injury in time for Sunshine Stars clash in Nigeria on Saturday

Ahly left-back Sayed Moawad will miss Saturday's match against Nigeria's Sunshine Stars in the African Champions League semifinal due to an ankle injury.

The 33-year-old, who sustained the injury during a recent friendly with Smouha, was doubtful for the game until his absence was confirmed by Wednesday's squad announcement.

The Cairo giants will be also missing the services of strikers Emad Meteb and Oussou Konan due to injury.

Meteb is due to return to training within two days after beginning laser treatment for kidney stones.

Both midfielder and skipper Hossam Ghaly and playmaker Walid Soliman trained with the squad on Wednesday after recovering from minor injuries.

The Red Devils, who are bidding to win a seventh continental title, will travel to Nigeria on Thursday to face Sunshine Stars in the first leg of the prestigious continental tournament's semifinal.

Titleholders Esperance of Tunisia take on four-time winners TP Mazembe of the DR Congo in the other semifinal clash.

Ahly's 20-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami, Mahmoud Aboul-Sauod, Ahmed Adel

Defenders: Wael Gomaa, Sherif Abdel-Fadil, Mohamed Naguib, Ahmed Shedid, Ahmed Sedik, Ahmed Fathi, Saadeddin Samir.

Midfielders : Hossam Ghaly, Hossam Ashour, Walid Soliman, Mohamed Barakat,  Abdullah El-Saied, Mohamed Nagy "Gedo," Shehabeddin Ahmed, Ahmed Shoukry.

Strikers: Dominique Da Silva, El-Sayed Hamdy.
