Ahly’s Portuguese coach, Manuel Jose Da Silva expressed his delight with the current blood donor campaign for the victims of the Egyptian 25 January Revolution, affirming that his age prevents him from making a donation.
“I am sorry that I can't participate in the campaign as I am too old now. This is a great work by Egyptians after the revolution,” the 64 year-old coach was quoted as saying on Ahly’s official website on Wednesday.
The experienced coach confirmed that he won't stop any of his players from taking part for the sake of the injured people in hospital, adding “it is a marvellous human activity,”
“I feel that all Egyptians are happy to enjoy democracy and freedom now in their country,” he concluded.
Jose started last Sunday’s training session with a minute of silence for the 'martyrs of the revolution'.
The Red Devils are fifth in the league table with 26 points, six behind their arch-rivals Zamalek, who are in the lead.
The date for the return of the Egyptian league is yet to be determined by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), following an agreement with the local authorities.
