Malian striker Ismail Diarra has joined Ismaily on a four-year deal after leaving Cercle Bamako, the Egyptian Premier League side announced on Saturday.
“Diarra will be registered in the club’s squad for the Arab Champions League and African Confederation Cup,” Ismaily, who have not won any trophy since winning the league in 2002, said in a statement on their official website.
“He will replace Libyan midfielder Nader Al-Tarhoni, who was recently released by the club.”
Diarra, 22, has finished as the Confederation Cup’s joint top scorer last year with five goals.
Ismaily have also signed another striker in Abdel-Fattah Saied, who joined from lower division Banha, as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The Premier League, which was cancelled last season in the wake of the Port Said tragedy, should start on 2 February.
