Ahly captain, defender Hossam Ghaly is confirmed to miss the Reds’ squad for the African Champions League.
“Ghaly will not be registered continentally as his rehabilitation will take a long time,” the African Champions manager Hossam EL-Badry was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
The 31-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur has undergone a surgery in Germany after sustaining a rupture in his anterior knee ligament during his side’s 2-1 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a Club World Cup last month.
Ghaly’s injury came as a blow, not only for his club, but also for Egypt’s national team, which is currently bracing for a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe next march.
