Haras El-Hodoud maintained their fine start to the Egyptian Premier League with a 1-0 win over Smouha on Saturday.
Egyptian international striker Ahmed Hassan Mekki scored the winner six minutes before the break with a close-range effort as El-Hodoud secured a second successive win in Group A.
They top the group with six points from two games, three ahead of Cairo giants Ahly who can pull level with a win over Wadi Degla on Sunday.
Smouha, who spent big in the close season to bolster their squad, lie second from bottom with a solitary point.
