Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Hassan will not be able to play in his team's upcoming Africa clash against Kedus Giorgis of Ethiopia in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 – set to be played next weekend – due to a hamstring injury, the player said Thursday.

Hassan sustained the injury during his side's goalless draw against Congo's Vita Club in the previous round last Saturday.

Zamalek will host the Ethiopian side, who qualified for the round of 16 following a 3-1 win on aggregate over Djoliba AC (Mali), in Cairo on 20 April.

"I won't be able to play against Kedus Giorgis," The veteran midfielder told his club's official website on Thursday.

"Such injuries usually require around two weeks of treatment."

Hassan has given solid performances recently with the White Knights in various competitions.
