Ahly's defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil has agreed to sign a two-year contract extension on Tuesday.

The 29-year old player, who joined the Cairo giants from Ismaily in 2009, was free to sign for any other club as his current contract was due to expire by the end of the current season.

"Abdel-Fadil has shown an example of loyalty to Ahly as he agreed on reducing his benefits 50 per cent," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz told the club's official website.

According to Ahram Sport, Abdel-Fadil will be paid LE1.8 million in the first season which increases to LE2 million in the second.

The renewal of Abdel-Fadil stay came despite falling out of favor for the club's last two coaches Manuel Jose Da Silva and Hossam El-Badry.

Earlier this season, Ahly management succeeded to extend the contracts of team stars midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika, defender Wael Gomaa and left-back Sayed Moawad.
