Ahly have decided to put on hold plans to strengthen their squad in the close season after their offer to sign Haras El-Hodoud striker Ahmed Hassan Mekki was turned down by the military club.
According to Ahram's Arabic-language sports website, Ahly's board of directors has opted against making any new signings because its term in office will end in August.
The Red Devils are still seeking to reinforce their frontline despite signing ENPPI's Ahmed Abdel-Zaher last January.
Their squad boasts several strikers, including Egyptian international Emad Meteb, but all of them have been disappointing so far this season.
Ahly, who are eyeing an eighth consecutive Egyptian Premier League title, have already secured passage to the final round of the competition's new two-group format.
