Despite doubts surrounding the upcoming season, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Sunday that the domestic leagues will include 22 teams divided into two groups during the new season.
"The new season will involve 22 teams divided into two groups," read a statement on the EFA official website on Sunday.
However, the EFA has yet to declare the season's start date due to security concerns.
The two previous seasons were cancelled due to security concerns. The first was called-off in the wake of Port Said riots which left more than 70 Ahly fans dead in a game between Ahly and Masry. The second was cancelled following 30 June demonstrations.
Masry will participate in the new season after serving a one-year ban in the wake of the Port Said debacle.
