Zamalek's newly appointed coach, Ahmed Hossam 'Mido', has said that signings of young coaches to lead top teams is a regular practice in the European leagues.

The Cairo giants Zamalek officially announced the appointment of the former Egypt attacker early this week, succeeding Helmi Toulan, who was sacked after the team's latest draw against Haras El-Hodoud.

The 30-year-old former star led his first training session with the Whites on Wednesday.

"My appointment with Zamalek will help young coaches to take a greater role in the Egyptian League," Mido was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"There are more talented young coaches in Egypt, but they haven't had chances, and that limited the development of Egyptian football," he added.

Zamalek has suffered a loss of points in the Egyptian Premier League Group B, lying fourth in the team table with seven points, six behind group leaders Ismaily.

"Zamalek will have a new shape in the field in the coming games," Mido added.

The former Ajax, Marseille, Roma and Tottenham striker has no immediate plans to sign new players. "I will make use of the current squad as they are experienced players and can help the team," Mido said.

"I won't sign new players before paying the current players' delayed fees," Zamalek's new coach added.
