Egyptian heavyweights Ismaily
Ismaily have appointed Heron Ricardo as the team’s new manager until the rest of the season.
The 56-year-old Brazilian was presented to the media at a press conference on Sunday.
He succeeds Ahmed El-Agouz who was sacked after a recent run of poor performances.
Ismaily had a good start to the season and led Group B for five weeks. But results worsened and the board decided to make a change after a draw with newly promoted Minya left them second in the table with 16 points after nine games.
Ricardo – who is back for a second spell at the Dervishes - has penned a six-month contract on a monthly salary of $10,000.
“I am glad to be back here. I know there are only three players remaining from the team I coached in 2008 but I notice there are a lot of new young players and I am looking forward to working with them,” he said during the presser.
“I am not looking for money here because back then I earned 25,000 euros [per month] and now I will only get $10,000. What I am looking for is success and to make the fans proud,” he concluded.
Ismaily will play group leader Petrojet on Monday.
