Ahly have to respect their Confederation Cup opponent despite knowing little about them, the club's football director said on Tuesday.

The Cairo giants were paired with Morocco's Difaa Hassani Jadida in the round of 16 draw on Tuesday.

"We still have to collect information about our opponents but we must respect them," Sayed Abdel-Hafiz told Ahly's official website.

"We are looking for a win to reach the group stage, wherever the matches are played," he added.

Ahly joined the Confederation Cup after being eliminated from the Champions League by Ahly Benghazi on Saturday.

They will be Egypt's sole representative in the competition after Ismaily and Wadi Degla were knocked out by Petro Atletico of Angola and Malian side Djoliba.

The first leg will be played on 18, 19 or 20 April in Cairo, while the return leg will be held in Morocco on 25, 26 or 27 of the same month.

The winner will qualify directly for the group stage.

The second phase of the round of 16 comprises eight teams eliminated from the Champions League and eight who qualified from the Confederation Cup's original round of 16.

Difaa Hassani Jadida, who qualified after beating Rwanda's AS Kigali, are seventh in the Moroccan league with 31 points, 14 behind leaders Maghreb Tetouan.
