Fadl boosts Ahly’s attack against Smouha, Abdel-Fadil out

Mohamed Fadl is back in Ahly’s squad that will face Smouha on Thursday for the first time in six weeks while international defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil has been ruled out because of injury

The international striker has not featured for the Reds since a brief substitute appearance against Esperance (Tunisia) in the CAF Champions League last October, struggling with a knee ligament injury.

Fadk, 30 is the only striker available at Ahly as Liberian Francis De Forkey, Osama Hosny and Lebanese Mohamed Ghaddar are all injured. Meanwhile Abdel-Fadil failed to complete Wednesday’s training session due to an abdominal muscle injury and will undergo a rehabilitation programme.

New coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafy, who will be first tested on Thursday, has announced his 18-man squad who will travel to Alexandria to take on Smouha.

The match is set to be officiated by Hungarian referee Istvan Vad.
