The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has turned down Zamalek's request to be awarded a walkover victory over Petrojet in the Egyptian Premier League.

Group B leaders Petrojet defeated Cairo giants Zamalek 4-2 after totally outplaying their illustrious opponents, repeatedly exposing their defensive frailties. They could have won by a bigger margin had they not wasted a flurry of goal-scoring chances.

However, Zamalek demanded the result be annulled after alleging that some fans were present in the stands of the Egyptian Army Stadium despite a crowd ban.

Petrojet lead Group B with 33 points, six ahead of second-placed Ismaily who have two games in hand. Zamalek, who also have two games on hand on Petrojet, are fourth on 25 points.

The top two in each group will qualify for the final mini-league phase to determine the league champion.
