Ismaily and Petrojet lose in Egyptian League

Group leaders Petrojet and second placed Ismaily lost to Ittihad El-Shorta and Talae El-Gaish respectively on Sunday

Petrojet wasted a precious chance to cement their position at the top of the league table as they lost to Ittihad El-Shorta 3-2 on Sunday.

Despite an early lead in the 14th minute of the game, the hosts responded with three goals, thanks to Hossam Abdel-Aal (26), Mohamed El-Sadat (40) and Reda El-Azab (90).

Midfielder Moustafa Sheibeita scored the consolation goal for Petrojet at stoppage time.

Petrojet remain at the top of Group B with 33 points, while Ittihad El-Shorta advanced to second place with 29 points.

On the other hand, Ismaily dropped from their second place spot in the group after losing 3-2 to Talae El-Gaish on Sunday in Cairo.

Striker Salah Amin scored twice and Islam scored the third, giving their side a precious win over the Dervishes.

Following Sunday's loss, Ismaiy fall to third place with 27 points, while the military side remain second from the bottom with 18 points.

Earlier in the day, Masry sent Menya to the second division after beating the Upper-Egypt representative 1-0.

Menya have been mathematically relegated to the second division as they lie at the bottom of the group with 9 points.
