Egypt keep position in FIFA's December ranking

Argentina and Spain knock Germany from second position in FIFA's ranking, no change for Egypt

After beating Chad 4-1 on aggregate in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Egypt kept their place in FIFA's monthly global football rankings published on Thursday, remaining in 57th place.

Egypt, who started their 2018 World Cup qualifiers campaign last month, are bidding for a place in the most prestigious tournament as they strolled into the final round of the qualifiers after Chad win.

The Pharaohs will be drawn into a four-team group, with the winners directly reaching the 2018 finals in Russia. The draw will be made in July next year and the group stage will start in October.

Egypt made it into the world's top 10 when they won three successive African Cup of Nations trophies, in 2006, 2008 and 2010. They last reached the World Cup in 1990.

Algeria, who glided down two positions to become the world's 28th, are in the second place of the African nations while Ivory Coast (19) still dominating the top post.

Egypt is still in 9th place of the African nations ranking as well as in the 3rd place of the Arab nations without changes.

Belgium kept their lead post of the ranking, Argentina (2) gained one position and Spain (3) got three places to pass Germany (4) who lost two positions from the last month ranking.
