Mohamed Elneny is proud after Egypt defeated Tanzania 2-0 away from home to book a place at next year's African Cup of Nations, saying the Pharaohs are back to dominate Africa again after six years of underachievement.

Egypt, who conquered Africa with three Nations Cup triumphs between 2006 and 2010, reached the Gabon finals after missing the past three editions.

A double salvo from AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah earned them a deserved win at Tanzania as Egypt finished their qualifying campaign unbeaten, conceding a solitary goal in four matches.

"I congratulate the Egyptian people for today's win as well as our progress to the 2017 Africa Cup of nations. Now we have to concentrate on the World Cup [qualifiers]," Arsenal midfielder Elneny told a beIN Sports in a pitch-side interview after game.

"Egypt will be back to dominate Africa again.

"Although we played on the road, we felt at home. We played very well although Tanzania is a good team," Elneny added.

Egypt, who will not play in the final round of the qualifiers due to the withdrawal of Chad, finished on top of Group G with 10 points from three wins and a draw, eight ahead of Nigeria and nine clear of Tanzania, who meet in their final meaningless qualifier.

"We achieved our target and dominated the game despite the bad weather; Egypt can play in any circumstances," Elneny said.

"Egypt has young and talented players who are eager to etch their names in the team's history."
