Egypt’s Olympic football team have drawn in Group A of the eight-team African qualifying tournament along with Ivory Coast, South Africa and Gabon.

The Pharaohs are likely to relieved to avoid strong North African rivals Algeria and Morocco, who were paired in Group B along with Senegal and Nigeria.

Egypt will host the tournament that will run from 26 November to 10 December.

The winners will qualify directly for the London Games. The runners up in the two groups will face each other for another place in the Olympics.

The losing team will still have a chance to qualify as they will face an Asian representative in a two-legged tie.

Egypt, who are currently led by coach Hany Ramzy, have not qualified for the Olympic Games since 1992.
