After FIFA rejected a special ranking for the African continent ahead of Friday's 2018 World Cup qualifying draw, Argentinean coach Hector Cuper revealed that he is incurious about the Pharaoh’s position in the world rankings.
"I don't pay attention to the rankings anymore," Egypt’s Cuper was quoted as saying on Ahram Sports.
Egypt is now settling for a place in pot 2, meaning they will clash with one of the following top guns: Algeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal or Tunisia.
"To be in the first pot doesn't mean you won't be drawn in a tough group," he added.
"In all cases we have to be ready to face any team."
"I remember when I coached Valencia in the UEFA Champions League we managed to beat high flight teams," Cuper explained.
"We have to work hard and be ready for any game: that's the difference between you and other teams." Cuper concluded.
The Pharaohs were hoping the 8 June rankings would be altered after FIFA said earlier this month they would look into Egypt's complaint against a special FIFA ranking, though it was rejected by the world governing body.
