Egypt coach Hector Cuper had words of praise for the new faces he introduced in a 3-0 friendly victory over Togo in Alexandria on Tuesday.

Maqassa's on-loan playmaker Ahmed El-Sheikh marked his debut with a goal, Danish-born attacking midfielder Alexander Jakobsen showed flashes of his talent on his maiden appearance and Wigan Athletic's central midfielder Sam Morsy also put in a solid display.

Central defender Amr Tarek, a former Real Betis player who is now playing for Egypt's Ismaily, also came on as a second-half substitute.

"The new players had a fine impact although they haven't played for long," Cuper told the post-match news conference.

"The new players like Amir Adel (Alexander Jakobsen), Sam Morsy and Ahmed El-Sheikh played well today.

"They had simple tasks to do as I did not want to distract them. They followed my instructions and they only need some time to reach the highest level."

El-Sheikh caught the eyes with some superb displays in the Egyptian Premier League with second-placed Maqassa, scoring 11 goals and creating six others in 20 appearances.

Cairo giants Ahly are reportedly planning to heavily rely on him next season when his loan spell ends.

"We are monitoring his progress in the league and he did well today. He should maintain his fine performances with his club to keep his place in the national team's squad," Argentinean boss Cuper added.

Egypt's next competitive game will be against Tunisia in June in their opening Group J clash of the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers. The group also includes Niger and Swaziland.
