Egypt coach Hossam El-Badry said he intends to call up new faces for the team's upcoming  training camp, adding that continuing to inject new blood is his priority for the time being.

"There will be new faces in the coming training and Zamalek striker Mostafa Mohamed is a strong candidate," El-Badry told On Sport radio channel on Wednesday.

"Other candidates also include Smouha's left-back Ahmed Aboul-Fotouh and Gouna trio Ahmed Hmady, Ahmed Yasser Rayyan and Akram Tawfik."

The 59-year-old has faced some criticism due to Egypt's disappointing start to their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The Pharaohs opened the qualifiers with a 1-1 draw at home to Kenya in November before being held to another away draw with Comoros.

Egypt's next training camp will be held in March, with the team scheduled to face Togo twice in the Nations Cup qualifiers.

El-Badry is optimistic the new additions could prove valuable to the team.

"Ahly's striker Marwan Mohsen is also in our sights after his recent good run. He would be a solution for the attacking crisis that we faced in the latest matches," he added.

"Zamalek keeper Mohamed Abu Gabal is also delivering good performances and we are also monitoring other keepers like El-Mahdy Soliman, El-Hani Soliman and Amer Amer.

"My main concern now is the names that will join the next training camp and I'm worried that any of the candidates would be injured so I am preparing alternatives."

Since El-Badry's appointment in September last year, Egypt have won two friendly matches, beating Botswana 1-0 in October before claiming a late 1-0 win over Liberia in early November.

Egypt landed a tricky draw for the group phase of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers as they were thrown into Group F along with Gabon, Libya and Angola on Tuesday.
