Egypt's Olympic team traveled Monday to Toulon, France for a friendly tournament amid preparations for the 2012 London Olympics.
“The Toulon championship is a good opportunity for the team to set its final squad and tactics,” assistant coach Metemed Gamal told Ahram Online.
Alongside the Pharaohs will be the Netherlands, Turkey Japan, France, Mexico, Morocco and Belarus.
“It’s really helpful that we will compete with some of the qualified teams,” Gamal added.
The under-23 team is yet to select the squad's three permitted senior players but “there are no problems at all as we are co-coordinating with the senior squad manager Bob Bradley,” Gamal said.
Under the helm of coach Hani Ramzy, the Young Pharaohs, who return to the Olympics after an absence of 20 years, will be in the same group as Brazil, Belarus and New Zealand.
