Newly-appointed Egypt national team coach Shawki Gharib has officially put pen to paper in a contract with the Egyptian Football Association for a monthly salary of LE150,000, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic website on Monday.

Gharib expressed his gratitude to all Egyptian Football Association members for placing their confidence in him as the Pharaohs' leader, after American coach Bob Bradley's departure.

The 54-year-old Gharib has been entrusted to lead the Pharaohs in the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He is no stranger to Egypt's trenches, having assisted Hassan Shehata during a highly-successful period that saw the Pharaohs win three straight African Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
