Egypt’s highly-rated playmaker Ahmed Hammoudi has completed his move to Swiss side Basel to link up with compatriot Mohamed El-Neny.
Basel said on their official website that Hammoudi has signed a four-year deal. He will wear the number 24 jersey.
The 24-year-old has been one of Smouha’s best performers during an impressive season for the modest Alexandria-based club in which they finished runners-up in the Premier League behind winners Ahly before reaching the Egypt Cup final.
He earned eight international caps, scoring one goal for the Egyptian national team.
Hammoudi will play alongside holding midfielder El-Neny, who has been at Basel since January 2013.
Current Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah has also enjoyed a highly successful spell with the Swiss champions before moving to the English Premier League at the halfway stage of last season.
