Chelsea Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is seriously thinking of leaving his club due to the very short time he has been given on the pitch, a source inside the London-based side said.
Jose Mourinho, Chelsea’s manager, held a serious and frank discussion with Salah over the matter at the request of the player a few days ago, the source said.
“Salah was frank with his coach, expressing he is upset as he is not given enough chances to play so he can show his developed skills,” a Chelsea insider source told Ahram Online.
The winger told the Portuguese manager he has already been approached by some European clubs to move.
The meeting was held a month before the first anniversary of the player's signing to the Blues.
When Salah joined the Blues on 23 January 2014, Mourinho said that "He's young, he's fast, he's creative, (and) he’s enthusiastic. When we analysed him held a humble personality on the pitch, ready to work for the team”.
Since then, Salah has played 14 games, more than twice a month, in all competitions and managed to score twice and assisted in a third.
Mourinho told Salah that one year after joining, he is now fully adapted to the English Premiere League and Chelsea's playing style.
Three weeks ago, Mourinho praised Salah for his performance, saying the player “doesn’t go for sure. Maybe he moves house, but not club.”
The British media reports expect the young winger could leave in the next transfer window either on loan or permanently.
Sunderland, Stoke, Everton, and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) are reported to be interested in a temporary deal with Salah.
However, Salah is strongly believed to incline to accept an offer outside of the English Premier League that allows him to stay in Europe.
