International duo Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Hamoudi will be the first two Egyptian players to be named for one Champions League game in the round of 16 should they be included in Basel's squad for FC Porto showdown.

Both players have started alongside each other in the group stage against Liverpool, and also featured against Real Madrid in the same round. It is yet to be known if the Egypt pair will be named in the starting eleven when Switzerland's Basel host Portuguese giants Porto in the first leg.

Former Egypt and FC Kaiserslautern ace Hani Ramzy is the only Egyptian player to have featured in the Champions league round of 16 and the quarter finals as well, having spent his heyday with the Bundesliga side.

Midfielder Elneny has been playing on a regular basis with Basel, who have enjoyed a fine run at the domestic level this season and are currently on top of the Swiss league table.

Elneny, who made 20 appearances on all fronts this season, was instrumental in helping his outfit beat five-time European champions Liverpool in the group stages.

The 22-year-old moved to Basel from Arab Contactors in 2012. He scored his first league goal of the season earlier on February in Basel's 4-2 win over Grasshopper.

Hamoudi, 24, has only featured with Basel six times in the Swiss league since joining in from Egypt's Smouha during the summer transfer window.
