All eyes will be on Egypt's Salah when his team Fiorentina visit Spanish outfit Sevilla in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal on Thursday at 21:05 Cairo local time (GMT +2).
Defending champion Sevilla were drawn to play Fiorentina, where Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has excelled in recent months, in the Europa League semifinals.
Egyptian ace Salah, who moved to Fiorentina on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window, has shown scintillating form with the Italian side, scoring seven goals in 15 appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old excelled to help Fiorentina to a 2-0 home win over Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv, which took them to the Europa League semi-final with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
Spanish club Sevilla could become the first to win a fourth UEFA Cup or Europa League title.
Sevilla last week lost their away game to Real Madrid in the Spain La Liga last week as their defence cemented enough to suspend a wave of attack from Real that leaves them full of confidence ahead of their Europa League semifinal against Fiorentina.
"It’ll be a good match," Sevilla coach Unai Emery said in his pre-match press conference. "All of the Viola players are of a very high level. Some of them were even targets for us."
"We’ve just faced Real Madrid and players like Ronaldo, and we’ll have to deal with Mohamed Salah, Mario Gomez and Borja Valero."
"It will still be a very difficult job for the defence," he said.
Salah has quickly become a fan favourite in Florence, with Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella saying he was likely to remain at the club beyond the end of his current loan deal, which expires in the summer.
