Egyptian national team manager Hector Cuper believes that forward Mohamed Salah is ‘more useful at Roma than he was at Fiorentina.’
“Signing Salah was a very important step for Roma, especially for [coach Rudi] Garcia’s tactics as he likes to play with two wingers,” Cuper was quoted as saying on Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday.
“Salah is more useful to his teammates now compared to when he was at Fiorentina, as he can take advantage of the space to set up those arriving from midfield."
Salah, 23, joined Roma on a season-long loan from English Premier League champions Chelsea this summer following a protracted saga regarding his future.
Having rejected a permanent deal with Fiorentina, where he had a successful six-month loan stint last season, Salah’s future seemed up in the air before he sealed his move to Roma.
Salah is expected to play with the Italian side when they host Barcelona on Wednesday in the opening Group E match of the UEFA Champions League.
“He can either play with [Francesco] Totti or [Eden] Dzeko, it’s up to Garcia to understand what works best. Salah is adaptable to any style of play.”
Salah produced a fine display in Egypt's 5-1 win over Chad earlier this month in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, scoring the Pharaohs' third goal.
