Egypt's forward Mohamed Salah is happy after inspiring Italy's AS Roma to defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League group stage Wednesday.
"We scored a third goal, which was important for us because we had to win today and that, I think, is the most important thing," Mohamed Salah told UEFA.com after the game.
AS Roma squandered a two-goal lead but recovered to beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 following a late Miralem Pjanic penalty to move into second place in Champions League Group E.
"I don't know [what happened], we started the second half badly and conceded two goals. There was still time to turn things back in their favour, however, and with the knowledge that a draw would have left their destiny out of their own hands, they found that winner," the 23-year-old winger added.
The young Pharaoh made a record for himself and Roma, scoring their fastest ever Champions League goal in just 100 seconds and was named man of the match.
"I like to play in the Champions League and I hope we can win the next two games because it's important for us to qualify from the group," Salah asserted adding "I think also today was a good game for us and it was very important. I hope we get a good result in our next two games,"
AS Roma will be clashing with Spanish giants Barcelona away on 24 November before they take on BATE Borisov of Russia 29 September.
"We have to win [our next two games], but we also have to see what Bayer Leverkusen do," Salah said. "We will see. It's going to be very difficult against Barcelona away, but we will go there to get a good result and we'll see what will happen." he concluded.
Salah, who made a great impact in the Serie A this year, scoring six goals in 16 appearances with Fiorentina before netting five more in ten matches with Roma, was named among the ten-man shortlist nominees for the 2015 African player of the year award this week.
