AS Roma coach Luciano Spalletti hailed the outstanding performance of Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah in Friday's 4-1 home win in the Italian Serie A.
The Pharaohs star continued his recent fine run, netting a double against former club Fiorentina and also creating a third goal to heap more misery on the Florence side.
"Salah is a great player and if he runs into space he becomes very difficult to stop, as he combines pace with technique,” Spalletti was quoted as saying by Football Italia after the match.
“Fiorentina push Marcos Alonso up and draw the trequartista in. We above all tried to stop them running into the box, but as well as pressing them. We did well to rob possession and go on the counter offensive with players like Stephan El-Shaarawy and Salah, who are made for that sort of run," the coach added.
The 23-year-old Salah joined Roma from English champions Chelsea last summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina, where he produced superb displays.
He took his tally to 11 Serie A goals in 24 appearances with Roma so far this term. He also scored one UEFA Champions League goal this season.
Roma are now third in the Serie A table with 56 points in the last Champions League qualification spot, three ahead of Fiorentina and five behind leaders Juventus who face Atalanta Sunday.
