Mohamed Salah failed to get his name on the score sheet as he featured for 83 minutes in AS Roma's 4-1 Europa League home victory over Czech's Vicktoria Plzen to help his side advance to the knockout stage with one group game left.

Playing at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko gave his side an 11th-minute lead, before the Group E bottom side managed to equalize through forward Martin Zeman seven minutes later.

Dzeko then came back to restore Roma's advantage in the 61st minute, as substitute Diego Perotti made it three with a magnificent effort eight minutes from time.

It wasn't the end though, with Dzeko completing his personal treble in the 88th minute, with Roma securing passage to the knockouts having needed only a single point from their remaining two group games.

Salah missed chances

Despite sharing responsibility for the visitors' equalizer, Salah could have scored a goal himself on the stroke of half-time, only to see his strike hit the post after running directly into the area and towards goal.

And just four minutes after the restart, Salah had a close-range effort denied by the keeper, who again denied the Egypt ace once again just a few minutes later.

Salah's big miss could arguably be the one he squandered in the 76th minute when he went one-on-one before seeing his chipped effort go wide.

He was eventually substituted by Roma veteran Daniele De Rossi with seven minutes left to put an end to his wasted chances, with Roma now 11 point at top of the group – four ahead of second-placed Romania's Astra.
