Braga's Ahmed Hassan 'Koka' celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the Europa League group F soccer match between SC Braga and FC Groningen at the Municipal stadium in Braga, Portugal, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 (AP)
Sporting Braga's Egyptian striker Ahmed Kouka is likely to miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
The Portuguese club said on their website that Kouka had undergone a surgery in Barcelona and that it was a success after he suffered a groin injury.
"The Egyptian international is now starting the recovery period," Braga said in a brief statement on their official website.
Kouka was part of Egypt's squad for the African Cup of Nations in Gabon but missed the semi-final victory over Burkina Faso and the final loss to Cameroon due to a pelvic complaint.
"Thanks everyone for your kind messages, thanks Allah everything went great," the 24-year-old wrote in a message to his fans on Twitter.
Kouka scored four goals and created five others in 23 appearances with Braga in all competitions this season.
