Soccer Football - Champions League Round of 16 First Leg - FC Porto vs Liverpool - Estadio do Dragao, Porto, Portugal - February 14, 2018 Liverpool's Mohamed Salah goes past Porto's Jose Sa before scoring their second goal Reuters
Mohamed Salah is not being carried away by an impressive start to his Liverpool tenure that saw him score 30 goals - he believes the best is yet to come.
It took the red-hot Egypt winger just 36 appearances to hit the 30-goal mark in all competitions, marking the best ever start for a Liverpool recruit.
He is also vying for the Premier League top scorer award, having netted 22 goals in 26 appearances, just one behind leading scorer Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.
“It is a great feeling to have scored 30 goals in a first season at a club like Liverpool. It’s something huge, so I am very happy about it – but I have to carry on and keep looking forward to score many more goals," Salah told Liverpool's official website in an interview on Saturday.
"In my mind I am always trying to improve and I’m doing it every single day. Every day I look at myself and try to improve myself all the time.
"I am happy at the moment, I feel good, and that’s the most important thing – and 100 per cent, there is still more to come."
Salah has become a darling for Liverpool fans, who incessantly chant his name in every game, be it at Anfield or on the road.
Before last Tuesday's European Champions League clash at Portuguese giants Porto, the visiting supporters unfurled a banner in the city that read "The Egyptian King".
The 25-year-old once again lived up to their expectations, scoring a brilliant goal in the 5-0 drubbing of Porto in the first-leg of the competition's round of 16, juggling and flicking the ball over goalkeeper Jose Sa before calmly slotting home after a powerful shot from James Milner came back off the post.
"I was very happy to see it. I saw it the night before the game and I was very happy," Salah added.
"I want to thank the fans for it. It's something different, it's something good. I feel good about it, I feel the fans love me, so I am happy about it."
