Egypt and Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah has been chosen as the sole Arab sports star on the global stage by Forbes Middle East magazine on Thursday.
The prominent American magazine has introduced a new annual ranking unveiling the biggest and most successful "Arab Stars on the Global Stage."
According to Forbes, the lists, which include singers, directors, fashion designers, actors and footballers, "reveal the influence that these Arab stars wield globally and indicate their popularity among the masses."
The criteria for footballers are: appearances with non-Arab clubs, awards received in non-Arab leagues, the clubs' strength, and endorsements from international brands.
Salah has had a phenomenal season with Liverpool, winning the best player and top scorer awards, reaching the final of the Champions League and shattering several club and Premier League records.
The 26-year-old winger also led Egypt to the 2018 World Cup for the first time in 28 years.
