Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah believes the Reds can topple defending champions Manchester City to win their first Premier League title since 1990.
Liverpool have thrown away a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and are now one point adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men.
“It is the time were we must believe in winning the Premier League title. I do believe in that until now,” Salah told a presser on Monday.
The 26-year-old forward signed a sponsorship deal with Alex Bank that was unveiled at Anfield on Monday.
“We play to win the title, that is our aim. Dropping any point will be hard to compensate. There are still eight games to play and all we can do now is win,” he added.
Salah also praised Liverpool fans and hailed their impact on the team and on him.
“I am very proud and grateful for what they are doing for me. We have had a very good relationship since I came here. Against Burnley my teammates scored but the fans chanted for me,” he added.
Mo became an iconic figure at Anfield after enjoying a blistering debut season at Liverpool, claiming the Premier League top scorer and best player awards and on course to shattering several domestic and club records.
Salah is also warming up for the next summer Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Egypt.
He led Egypt to the 2017 final after a seven-year drought and is tipped for glory this year, especially since the tournament is on home soil.
“I always keep in mind to play to win the title, but it is too early to talk about the African Cup now. We have many young players, some of them haven’t played in front of many supporters and now they will have to face 100,000 supporters in the opening game. But we will win inshallah,” he concluded.
