Liverpool coach manager Jurgen Klopp has praised the performance of Egypt international winger Mohamed Salah after the 3-1 win over Lyon that saw Liverpool end a difficult pre-season on a high.

The 27-year-old winger Salah returned to Liverpool's preparatory camp after finishing participation with Egypt's national team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in his team's final pre-season game.

"I think Mo is naturally fit and he can sprint all day, which helps us of course." Klopp was quoted saying on Liverpool's official website after the game.

"It opens up the pitch, you can play much more football – not always between the lines if you are able to chip the ball in from behind the line, then Mo can make these offers that are very important for us" Klopp added.

Salah didn't start with the team's pre-season camp due to his participation with the Egyptian national team in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, where the Pharaohs left the tournament from the round of 16.

The Champions League winner and Premier League's runners up Liverpool will start their new season facing Manchester City at the FA Community Shield match scheduled for 4 August.
