Egypt and Aston Villa winger Mahmoud “Trezeguet” Hassan has praised Manchester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez, stressing that the clash between their teams in the 22nd round of the Premier League will be tough.
"Surely Mahrez is a big star and a source of pride to all the Arabs, and I'm happy to see him," the 25-year-old national team star said in a video posted on the Villans’ official Twitter account.
Mahrez, who was named third best African player during the 2019 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, as well as being on squad named the best in the continent, missed the ceremony owing to the League Cup semifinal against Manchester United.
He was named the man of the match after giving an astonishing performance, scoring one of the team’s goals to clinch their 3-1 victory.
The Claret and Blue will host the Citizens, who are third in the league table, on Sunday, in the last game of the Premier League’s 22nd round.
"The game will be tough, and I wish luck for us," he added.
Trezeguet has scored three goals with The Villa jersey, all against big names: Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Fellow Egyptian Ahmed Elmohamady is also on the team.
The Villa are in 17th place in the league table with 21 points after 21 games.
