The German Football Federation (DFB) said it would not launch an investigation into an alleged assault by Mainz forward Mohamed Zidan on Augsburg defender Matthias Ostrzolek during Saturday’s German Bundesliga game.
Ostrzolek claimed that Egyptian international Zidan had hit him “in the genital area” with his knee during Augsburg’s 2-1 victory.
According to German media, the DFB said in a statement there was no evidence that Zidan had deliberately kicked his opponent.
Zidan has made an impressive start to his third Mainz spell since joining from Bundesliga holders Borussia Dortmund in January, scoring six goals in seven league appearances.
