Egyptian tactician, Hossam El-Badry, failed to book a place for his team, El-Merreikh in the 16th round of CAF Champions League after losing to Angolan side Interclub 3-2 on aggregate.

El-Merreikh lost 2-0 to Interclub in the second leg, and conversely, they overcame Sudan in the last fortnight 2-0, making the game go into penalty kicks to break the draw from the two legs.

The Angolan side dominated the encounter and shot into the lead during the first 15 minutes when forward Barros netted the first goal. Later his teammate, Henriques, double the score four minutes before halftime.

El-Badry’s hopes of making history by bringing El-Merreikh to the CAF Champions League were denied after Saturday’s loss.

The former Ahly coach suffered his first official loss with El-Merreikh since he took over as manager last December, following four wins in the Sudanese league and CAF Champions League.
