Manchester City's inspirational midfielder Yaya Toure has been cleared to play the final couple of games of the Premier League, giving the Citizens a huge boost in their title quest.

The Ivorian picked up an ankle injury against Liverpool last month and made a quick recovery to feature against Everton 3-2 last Saturday.

There were some concerns over his fitness as he was substituted, but the 30-year-old international confirmed that it was just a protective measure.

"It was very important I came off (against Everton). It has been difficult for me in a short space of time to recover from the injury I picked up at Liverpool and prepare physically," he told the club's official website on Monday.

"If you are not fully prepared it is very tough, because you have to be at 100 percent for these games and coming back is always difficult, especially at the end of the season, but I feel good," he added.

Manchester City will face Aston Villa and West Ham and they need to secure the full points of the game to claim the League title, regardless of their opponents' results.

"Both Aston Villa and West Ham are sharp and will come to just enjoy the games, but we have a league to play for," the 30-year-old said.

"I hope we complete the job, but it depends how sharp we are, how we prepare mentally and physically.

"Our target was always to win something, but for us the League Cup is not enough. The Premier League was always our target, so now we need to be at our optimum levels when Aston Villa come to our stadium on Wednesday.

"We have worked so hard this year and, if we don't win, it would be a massive disappointment for us, for the fans and for the club as well," he concluded.

Toure has been a key element in City's formula of success this season, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League so far and seeming to be the man who pulls the strings for the team.
